Our Origin Story

Meeting That Sparked a Movement

Jono and Edgar met at WESA in 2022—two custom hat makers with a shared passion for craftsmanship and a frustration with where the industry was headed. The surge of interest in cowboy hats, fueled by Yellowstone and the rise of hat bars, brought more eyes to the space—but it also opened the door for mass-produced, low-quality hats to flood the market.

Together, they saw an opportunity: combine their strengths—Jono’s marketing background and Edgar’s factory in Mexico—to create something better.

The Vision

If It’s Not Custom, It Better Be Tailor

In 2023, they launched Tailor Hats with one goal in mind: raise the standard. They didn’t want to copy the fast-fashion trend or chase trends. They wanted to build a brand rooted in real craftsmanship, offering the next best thing to a fully custom hat—without the high price or long wait.

With 800 hats in hand, they built their first booth at Cowboy Christmas and introduced Tailor Hats to the world. The reception confirmed what they knew—people were ready for something better.

Craftsmanship at Scale

From Custom Skills to Everyday Quality

Tailor Hats isn’t about cutting corners. Every hat is made with intention. Jono and Edgar bring their custom roots to a scalable process—sweating every detail from the fit and felt to the stitching and shape. Edgar’s factory keeps lead times fast. Jono keeps the vision clear. Together, they’ve created a product that riders can trust and stores can rely on.

Growth with Purpose

From Shows to Shelves, and Beyond

After the launch, Tailor Hats expanded quickly—building an online store, launching social media, stocking a major country music venue, and showing up at rodeos, horse shows, and big events across the country. But growth has always been strategic.

Tailor Hats wants to help poeple in the industry by empowering other behind the counter—hat bars, shapers, and retailers who are in communities growing the Western lifestyle.

Our Mission

Support the Industry. Raise the Standard.

Today, Tailor Hats shows up at the biggest Western events—not just to sell, but to promote the brand and lead by example. Their mission is to help stores, shapers, and small businesses across the country by delivering high-quality hats at competitive prices with low MOQs and fast turnarounds.

They know they can’t be everywhere. So instead, they focus on equipping the people who are. Because this isn’t about chasing shelf space—it’s about changing the industry from the inside out.
